I had to do Air Assault twice. Morning of day 10, I go through the main gate at Campbell and I’m running a bit late. Well I ended up getting pulled over by February girl daughter of god my scars tell a story they are a reminder of time shirt because I was going 4 miles per hour over the limit. At 4:00 in the morning. Anyway, called the schools front desk and they said as long as I’m there before the timer starts for the 12 miler then I’m good. Get my ticket, get to school, park the car, get my gear out and haul ass to formation. As soon as I get to formation my name is called from the roster to see if I made it. I reply “here!” and the instructor screams at me to come over to him. I run over to him and he starts bitching at me about how I was trying to sneak into his formation blah blah blah. This whole time I’m at parade rest and breathing through my nose because I was taught not to be a mouth breather by literally every NCO during my comeuppance in the army. Instructor got even more mad and asked if I had a problem and if I wanted to fight, said something about me “bull-nosing” him, and said “alright fine, day 0 recycle, go to the admin building to get out processed”. From the time I parked my car to the time I was standing at the admin office was about 5.5 minutes. Dumbest fucking school in the army.

Best February girl daughter of god my scars tell a story they are a reminder of time shirt
I agree. While I disagree with most of this thread about Ranger School, I think Air Assault should be way less of a haze-fest and way more about developing actual February girl daughter of god my scars tell a story they are a reminder of time shirt up to a standard in the ranks. It shouldn’t serve to teach and validate anything besides air assault skills. No smoke sessions, no crazy ruck march or anal layouts – it should aim to graduate a high quantity of soldiers who meet the standards to safely and effectively sling load and conduct effective air assault operations. It should be mandatory to graduate from in any air cavalry aviation unit, and anybody not in those units should have a good reason to attend. It should be a certifying course that does not require additional courses to teach additional sling-loading or whatever the hell – you go to Air Assault, you should be good to go end of story. Those are formal skills we should want to propagate throughout the ranks of anybody working in or around helicopters along with combat arms and there should be no drops other than as it relates to a failure to meet the standards for key air assault skills, not common-soldier skills. If a dude can’t ruck, that’s on his unit.
