I am a nurse too. Nurses have to follow orders as do the doctors these days. Hands tied by protocols and an unwillingness to change what is not working. How can we leave people alone without advocates and continue to administer treatments that lead to such disastrous outcomes? All we ever heard before was ‘evidence based practice’. Clearly the evidence is mounting with the body count. When I went to nursing school we were taught to be patient advocates first and foremost.

Finally some nurses are getting the word out. I can’t help but wonder about the ethics of hospital administrators who employ most of the frontline medical and nursing staff and the politicians who update the numbers daily. Follow the money. It appears as they are doing just that as we are collecting more lives lost every day. So sad for us all, our well-meaning nurses caught in this mess and their patients.
